In 1975, Dr Alan Guilfoyle, his wife Carlie and their two gorgeous children moved to Clermont. Two more children would follow later including a future practice partner!
The primary focus of the move was for Alan to facilitate the Federal Government’s Bovine Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign (BTEC). Alan had promised Carlie they would only be ‘out bush’ for two years.
Over 40 years later, the Clermont Veterinary Surgery continues to go from strength to strength. Following its humble beginnings in downtown Clermont, the clinic has long been established on Laglan Road, and conveniently for all emergency after-hours clients, only 20 metres from the Guilfoyle family home. The surgery has now grown to seven veterinarians and ten veterinary nurses and a part-time gardener and groundsman.
One of the original ‘flying vets’ and always an original, Alan has remained equally passionate and committed to animal health in the greater Clermont area. Joined over the years by many a vet and vet nurse now counted as family, the Clermont Vet Surgery now enjoys servicing its diverse client base with a capable, accomplished, professional and experienced team of vets and vet nurses.
The Clermont Vet Surgery is now run by a partnership between Alan and his daughter Tess and the practice and its clients continue to benefit from the experiences, knowledge and industry insight of both, together with the active contributions of all greatly valued and appreciated members of the clinic team.
We service the Clermont area and surrounding districts. We offer large animal services on farms and cattle stations when required. Monthly “runs” to Middlemount and Alpha are conducted to provide a more convenient and cost-effective service to our clients. We also regularly service the Belyando Crossing and Mt Coolon areas.
We are proud to be members of the Australian Veterinary Association, Australian Cattle Veterinarians, Equine Veterinarians Australia, and the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association. We are also proud members of Equine Dental Vets.
